The helper we have hired has been great so far. She started Sunday night. It's been tough at home for Dad as Mom is incontinent right now so it's a lot more work. But at least he has food. He & Caleb were living like bachelors & Dad hasn't really been taking care of himself & his diabetes. So i'm thankful he has help now. Please continue to remember him in your prayers. He's had to cancel 5 out of his 6 speaking engagements in Canada & it looks like he'll have to cancel this last one too.
Yesterday I took Mom in for a routine blood draw (good news -- her platelets have gone up from 36,000 to 119,000, the doctors think the medicine has helped with this) & in the meantime I updated one of her nurses with the symptoms she's been having. She's had loose stools/diarrhea 10 times in the last 24 hours & severe headaches. Because of her history with the sodium & potasium (electrolytes) , she has a fluid restriction in her diet. But since she's been having diarrhea, she's probably losing water & electrolytes & probably dehydrated because of her fluid restriction. So given those conditions, they suggested that I take her to the ER. I was on the way home with her & I just turned the car around & brought her in to the ER.
Mom was released from the ER around 1:30 am last night. She is home now. Everything checked out okay. We think one of the medication is causing the diarrhea. Praise God that she has increased appetite & physical strength since coming back last week & that the diarrhea will stop & her system will become more normal again.
Thanks,
Nia
